Final Voyage

This is keeping in mind the post I made in the past fall, from then to now it would be fair to say that I have definitely gained more confidence. Not only in myself but in my skillset as well, as I was able to intern at Glendale Community College in the spring of 2024 and at Walmart Global Tech in the summer 2024. From these two experiences as well as the classes I took and are taking for my final semester, I feel like I have been able to gain a perspective that my past self was uncertain of. I used to think you had to be really incredible with programming and command line prompts, but unbeknownst to me it was perfectly fine to not know everything. The colleagues I worked with ensured to me it's fine and even provided me valuable resources to learn from and guiding me with their expertise.       Going through this definitely solidified and gave me more insight into the workings of how corporate life would be like for a software engineer in retail, and a cybe...

Research/Internship Preparation, Process, and Progress Post

Experiential learning, such as research or internships, is vital for preparation for entering the workforce because it gives you exposure to the industry you are trying to enter. Getting exposure from working in the industry you're studying in will provide good insight in how you have to prepare for future employment. Some people are really good at social media and can likely land an internship or get an invitation to a research event on LinkedIn. For others they could have used Indeed and j...

BIOS Awaken

I'll never forget the Christmas when I got my first laptop, as it would end up being the beginning for my interest in Computer Science. As I used it my curiosity of wanting to understand how it works grew, I wanted to push my laptop to the limit and see what it could handle. So over time I used it and grew comfortable with it, once I felt ready to get tech savvy I wiped the drive and installed Ubuntu Linux on it. I did so because of my curiosity for Linux at the time, mainly due to Epic Rap Battles of History, and wondering what makes Linux so good. Having dabbled with it for some time I grew to love it for being a nice operating system for some that actually enjoys technology. As I learned more of what Linux was capable of and what I can possibly do with it, is where my desire to wanting to be a good programmer began.       Growing up I was always a gamer, and even at one point wanted to make a video game with my cousin, since we enjoyed v...
